    Default New member latest addition

    Hi everyone, Great site that i've finally found. I look forward to finding out a lot of useful info here.

    I'm a very much an amateur and enjoy spending time in "The Shed". I have attached some pics of my latest thing. My Wife has waited about 18 months for it, so better late than never. She's been waiting longer than that for other requests. I'm sure that's no different to others on this site.

    It's a shadow box that is made from Meranti with Suede Effects paint on the ply backing. I also bought some cornice and fitted it accross the front.

    I've never heard of a 'shadow box' before. Do you know the origin of the name?

    Not sure where the name is from but that was how my wife described it to me and that was what she called it.

    I suppose it could be a nonsymmetrical bookcase for unreasonably sized books.

    I noticed a small butcher block cheese board that was made from the same length of timber at the bottom of the picture.
    However that's about 12 months old.
