    Default Adjustable Finger Jointing sled

    HI all
I said earlier that I was going to make a wheelbarrow to use in my photostudio. I figured if I cut the sides to the right angle and straight the easiest way would be to finger joint then. I didn't really want to put cladding on it.

SO I was thinking about this and realised that the distance from the blade to the stop is crucial and will be different for different grooves material etc. So I routed a groove in it and made a sliding stop which has a piece of metal thread and can be adjusted with nuts at the back. This helps hold it nice and tight too. There is a small amount of play in the groove but not much. None at all when you do up the nuts.

I will let you know how it goes.

    Studley,

Your jig is rather similar to a jig I designed last year, see http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...ead.php?t=9089 . I wrote an article on it which was published in the American Woodworker ( I don't know which issue - I just took the money and ran ). If you, or any other member, want a copy of the article, PM me your e-mail address.

The adjustable indexing finger is a nice touch... now just to make the finger width adjustable for accurate results!

    Nice Jig Studley.

I usually just make a jig for each finger joint product I make.
While I like the ideal of being able to adjust it, what is there for chip protection? Would you have to place a sacrifice piece for that ??

You'll have to bring this along to the next meet and greet. I'd like a closer look to see how it works.

Will do for sure Drew. It is a pretty simple thing really. Just works on the idea of triangles to give you the angles you are after.

Re the next get together Tikki has something on her mind for around the 8th Jan. Have to find out what she has on the agenda.

Default Show and Tell at Harry's

OK everyone it is official now next show and tell is on the 7th at Harry's.

We are all getting on the turps fortunately there are places out there where you can get pickled and no one cares because you are too far out of town. Good thing too because country wallopers aren't afraid of a bit of bare knuckle stuff.

Who has a ute we can put a couple of kegs in?

I've got a van, we can fit in at least 4. Let's see, 7th at Harry's, sleep in the van overnight, then down to Tikki's the next day. Cool.
