An afternoon well spent
I started messing around with a piece of cedar and decided that I need to do something with it.unfortunately it was too small for anything substantial so I had a little pine laying around and I just let the spirit take me and this is what I wound up with............. I don't like the clock at all. Itis one I had in a junk drawer............. I will be ordering an oval white clock from Knowles tomorrow and that will look great................ The cedar came from some old church pews that were given to me years ago.............. Sanded down to 800grit and then given three coats of Danish oil followed by a wax finish........... tactile to the Nth degree...........
Catch ya later,

Great way to fill in an afternoon
and end up with a great result.
why change the clock movement , Square to square looks good also appears to give the piece some age
Useless infomation for the day

What a way to spend an afternoon!!! Love the clock. I like Zenwood's ideas for adding a bit of whimsy, if you are inclined.
cheers

Funny that you should mention that............. I was thinking of a small thermometer on one side and a small barometer or tide indicator on the other............ I probably would have done that yesterday but I don't have the items at hand................ Interesting thought about the bell though.Hmm!Catch ya later,

And the top looks so much like a box lid: why not put a box in the top? For holding small items of bric-a-brac.

You can lift the box with the knob............. The idea of a hideyhole/money box only came to MUCH too late in the proceedings.(Like, when I had finished it) In fact when the clock comes out iut looks like a Budgie breeding boxCatch ya later,

Nice look. cider and pine
you don't need a place to hide your money. We all know it is in the piggy behind the clock . As far as the knob on top.. there shoule be a knob and a little dawer under the clock for Do-dads, trinkets, and what-not's Now that would look nice..JunkBoy999

Cool, Corunetes. I'd 'a put both clocks on, at skewiff angles. Gonna put a bell on it?

Hi Corunetes,
Thanks for that, it's given me an idea (rare occurrence, believe me)
I've had some weather instruments (hygrometer, barometer & thermometer) lying around for a while, but I didn't want to just stick them on a plank - even a nicely polished plank.
Your clock mount has struck a chord. I've some nicely figured southern maple (I think?), and could box it up with some pine, tas oak, or something.
Cheers!
