    Default Work of art

    Hi all
Here is a pedistal that I picked up from an auction last weekend.
Im guessing, but Id say its from the late 1800's, someone has tryed to restore it but they gave up.

Check out the capitol, this is carved into it as one piece.

This wont be going into the shop for a long time.
Its about 4' or 1.2m high, and cost me $150.
The post has the slightest curve on it.

Whilst I admire the work it's not my cup of tea (or should that be hemlock)

You've got to admire the artists of old. Are you going to take it back to bare wood or paint it again?

To be honest I like it the way it is, there is still some gold leaf on some parts so it looks good.

A liberal application of MFKL to the parts makes them look even better!
