New bamboo and steel smoking pipe
Just finished this. First time using steel and brass for the entire hinge assembly. I think it turned out pretty good!
Let me know what you guys think, I also did a bit of tweaking to my site, D.M. | Fine Smoking Pipes You can also find additional photos of this pipe there if you want to see more.

Awesome piece Dan.
Do you make all the fittings etc yourself (bowls & lids)
Nice website too.

..
thanks!
And yes, I make everything from raw materials. The only thing I did not make, are the tiny brass machine screws, I don't have a lathe capable of turning a screw that small, haha.
The bowl was turned from African blackwood, I find it to be a great wood for smoking pipe bowls. The hinge assembly was made from O1 steel, formed with a small propane forge, anvil and hammer, then refined with files and hardened in canola oil. Then tempered to get that rainbow color effect.
