    Default Bar Stools

Just finished some bar stools in Tas myrtle which came from Tasman . I borrowed the detail at the top of the legs from Lignum and also the taper on the inside of the leg . ( Thanks Lignum) Also used a taper on the outside of the leg as I thought that would look better . Used loose tenons for all the leg joints and mitred tenons for the top rail/leg joint to get a bit more lenght on the tenon . The frame that supports the seat is well glued to the rails so hopefully the top joints will stand the test of time . The finish is satin wipe-on poly for the seats and Mirotone Precat 3220/60 for the rest . I made 4 of them .

    Beautiful work, Peter.

This design has inspired me. My wife has been after me to make an indoor plant stand with legs at a 5 degree angle to the top. This design would be perfect. Legs a little longer and set at the required angle - voilà - a plant stand.

Great work, Peter! Sounds like they should last pretty well, too.

    Cheers,

The myrtle with you finish looks great. Congratulations.

Do you have a pic of the frame that supports the seat and how it sits on the legs?

Realy fantastic stools Peter Its great how inspiration spreads. I was inspired by Krenov and used his style and added some of my ideas and now you have taken some and designed some beautifull stools, and on top of that, Don will add his flair and ideas to make some great plant stands. All lookin good

I made a mitred frame dimensioned the same length as the top rail and this is glued to all 4 of the top rails so I am relying on the long grain to long grain join to hold the seat .

    Hi Peter,

    Super tall stools, very elegant!

Is that top on the stool a "lazy suzan" lookalike that launches unsuspecting patrons across the room at an hilarious rate of knots?
