Nice work Dazza, and I find it always adds to the satisfaction when the wood has a story,

That is a solid looking bed Daz_za.

That is an interesting piece of timber on the side rail.

You have some pretty solid looking bed plates. Do they keep the bed stable?

    Hi Scally

The bed plates are the best i found, when you tighten they apply pressure to other plate, bought the plates at timbercon Perth for $24 a set of 4

The Redgum bed side rails are one pice 160 x 80 from memory

The Pine bed side raiils are two peices 80x 80 joined

    Thanks.
I have ordered those bed plates from Timbercon, but got impatient and bought a set from Bunnings.

They are very light compared to yours.

That is a big lump of wood in the rails. That bed isn't going to move easily.

    hi mate

Im using those same bed frame brackets. Any idea what the big holes in them are for? I noticed you simply used screws in the smaller holes, which is what im doing too.

    cheers

    Hi Scotty

Never really took any notice of the larger holes
Quiet possible for flush mounting, aligning or some fixture (Dowel) to stop the bracket pulling forward
But now i know there their i will surley ultilize for added strength
The srcew nuts like these pictured here would be quiet useful in them holes
