    Default New sander bench.

A while ago a friend tore out his kitchen and I put my hand up for a couple of the cupboards. They can be seen here (upside-down). The space in the centre will one day be a dust collection chute. Switch on the left is an overhead incandescent light. The top is made of 35mm MDF topped with hardboard and Minwhacked to finish it - two coats. Trim is whatever was laying within reach but in the main was remnants of the flooring timber from the forum timber buy from a year or so ago.

Since there will be a 12" sander and an oscillating spindle moulder sitting on top I tried to fill all the gaps I could and took a bit of care to have a close fit on the bricks and electrical conduit.

The bench is reasonably high (I am 188cm) and the idea is to have the sanders at stomach to chest level. A design criteria not visible in the picture is the bench was not to interfere with the out feed of a panel from the table saw. This way a panel fits under the bench top when fed through the saw.

The bench is sitting on heavy duty adjustable cabinet legs and fixed to the wall with anchors. I can't make the bench move if I put all my weight to it (>100kg).

It's great to have a bit of time to sort out an ugly area of the workshop. Next I hope to put a nut and bolt store over the bench (about 200mm deep).

Looks good, always nice to have a good spot to put your equipment. I am looking forward to setting up a proper workshop in a few years time. (when we have built the house and current shack becomes workshop)

Because I seem to have a lot of cans and canisters of nuts and bolts and nowhere to put them any more

    You're missing my angle, mate...

Was ribbing about the other cupboard biting the dust.
