Blackheart Sassafras TV Cabinet
This is a Blackheart Sasafrass low-line unit i just finished. 1500 X 550 (H) X 520 (D)
The main frame is Solid Goldern Sassafrass and is three-way counter top joined. That was fun i can tell you but it worked out ok in the end. The dividing between the doors and drawers are also mitered in as is the bottom rail wich compliments the 3-way join.
As Blackheart is so hard to find solid i veneered up the side, top, door and draw panells. To add the nice hand made final touch, instead of getting your standard yuckie hardware, i made the handles from some African Rosewood and good `ol Blackwood.
The unit has had five coats of wipe-on poly rubbed back with 400# inbetween. Wipe-on poly looks great with light creamy timbers.
And Masonite works a treat as a backdrop for the pic

As per usual your work is stunning. Good stuff Lignum, your skill sets a bar to which many of us aspire.

Spectacular cabinet, Lignum. Hopefully it would have covered the cost of a couple of Dominos

I'd certainly love to have that cabinet at my place! Did you want our address for delivery? Awesome stuff. I really should learn how to use veneers one day as my favourite timbers (like blackheart sassy) cost a bomb.
Cheers

Beautiful work Lignum, I am inspired. We are planning to have some built in joinery for our lounge and dining room, I shall not wimp out and get it made!!
You said entertainment unit - Does it have provision for a TV, and how did you do the doors/shelf? Sliding? Turntable? We love the idea of hiding the TV behind doors here at the House of C. I made a (very) basic unit for our old house, using MDF (painted in enamel to match the walls). Ditto comments re veneering.Young kids cancels shed time
