Good job on the table and the choice of timber.

Why did you put the 5 degree angle on the legs?

It took me 3 years to work out how to make 8 chairs for my table. I am sure you can get yours done much quicker.

I put the 5% angle on the legs for some thing different and to practise the M&T angle of the centre arch between the legs. The chairs I’m going to start in a couple of weeks when I get back from work, I’ve decided on the Davis chair out of the book (the best seat in the house) using blackwood and silver wattle for the back stats this should prove to be a big enough challenge for me.
I thought that the colour and closer ring formation in blackwood was because of the colder and slower growing conditions in tasse?

    Thanks Robbie.

It is a handy book for chairmaking.

I started with a Scobie plan and adjusted height, width, depth and back to suit my ideas.
The plan had all the important angles and joinery.
    Enjoy it.

Tougher conditions do tend to have that effect on trees/timber. Slower growing conditions tend to produce tighter growth rings, more figure and maybe darker colour. There are probably lots of other factors, like local genetics.
North coast, NSW blackwood tends to be a more honey colour than the Vic and Tassie grown timber.
