More Bowls
SWMBO has come up with the Xmas gift list already, and I'm going to be busy
1. Banksia I think. Was VERY wet when I turned it, and it warped badly since last weekend. Kinda like it that way though. About 11" dia.
2. Oak burl I think. Around 5" dia. I like the shape - took a LOT of CA glue to fill all the spongy bits & voids though.
3. I have no idea what this timber is - it was a kinda white & plain looking small slab I bought ages ago, but it came out great. This one is the baby brother of the set - about 6" dia.
4. I don't know what this timber is either - but I like it a LOT About 5" dia. I'm not overly happy with the shape of this one - should have brought it in more at the top.
5. New Guinea Rosewood I believe. I like this one a lot - nice timber to turn and it looks great. About 6" dia.The Australian Woodworkers Database - over 3,500 Aussie Woods listed: http://www.aussiewoods.info/

6. 6" Huon pine bowl. I LOVE turning this stuff - and this bowl came out really well. This one's not going anywhere.
7. No idea what this timber is. Sawmill offcut I picked up ages ago. About 11" dia.
8. Tiger myrtle. Love this stuff - though it's kinda prone to tearout. I like this one a lot. 12" dia.
9. Big brother. About 11" dia. Almost lost this one - large crack in the edge nearly turned it into a platterThe Australian Woodworkers Database - over 3,500 Aussie Woods listed: http://www.aussiewoods.info/

Very nice work Darryl.
No 1 is not banksia, but my guess is that no 4 is either sheoak or banksia. Very difficult to see the grain on the front, but inside looks more like sheoak. Only guessing. Could No3 be Marri?
Dunno, definately not an expert on Australian timber.
However, very very nice!

No 4 looks v. like WA sheoak. As for no. 1, Banksia has very clear rays.
The tiger myrtle looks great!Cheers, Ern
