Default Box in Red Cedar (Toona calantis)

This is a box made for holding general "stuff", made from Red Cedar. The box is 240 x 200 x 140 mm and has no internal compartments or trays. The finish is....wait for it...burnished Tung Oil/White Spirit mix which was then finished with 4 coats of Shellac. I used the oil first as it really does accentuate the grain. The Shellac gave it the gloss finish that the client wanted. I gave the oil 48 hours to dry before using the Shellac. This really was a lovely piece of cedar.

    Regards,

    Rob

I like boxes but I love that one, simple straight lines & a finish that allows the timber to do the talking. Excellent work.
