    Default More small boxes

SWMBO wanted a small box to contain a special gift; hence the jarrah box. Keyed (maple) mitres with floating jarrah panels in the lid and base.

The other three boxes will be gifts for people who have been working with our disabled son, but are moving on. The boxes are copies of the "Japanese reliquary box" in Lydgate's The Art of Making Small Wood Boxes -- old growth douglas fir with teeny-weeny wedged mortices and tenons for the ends. They will contain seed pods from a cypress tree that our son likes to swing on.

Nice looking boxes Zenwood . I particularly like the effect created by the wedged mortices/tenons .

Great looking boxes. I am sure that they will be very much appreciated.

    Hi Zenwood,
Very nice work, you've been busy! I can see now why you want to find an easier way to make multiple mini-wedges!

    Good stuff,

Nice work Zen, love the wedged tenons. Whats the dark timber you used for the wedges?

Thanks all for the comments. The wedges were jarrah (see here for how I made them).

Realy nice job. Small boxes are an art in themselves, big boxes are easy by comparison. Well done mate.

Zenwood, exceptionally well executed projects. Love your work, and your interpretation of Tony's designs. Well done.
