Cabinet
My first attempt at a piece of furniture. Made out of timber and stained in Blackwood.

Very nice, Goldy. I'm a bit of a fan of blackwood. Looks like your staining took well. What timber and stain did you use?
Like the mouldings as well - make them yourself? This time, we didn't forget the gravy.

Congradulations, on your first piece of furniture, looks dimensionally very appealing and a terrific result. I look forward to the second piece.

Goldy
It looks very nice. I particularly like the molding at the top. Tell us about its construction and what tools you used.
Regards from Perth

Bloody good start Goldy Hell of a first attempt.
My only (small) criticism would be that I think it would look better in solid blackwood rather than stained pine - but I really dislike stainsThe Australian Woodworkers Database - over 3,500 Aussie Woods listed: http://www.aussiewoods.info/

Here`s my second attempt a snake vivarium. Basicaly kept to the the same style as the cabinet. Next time I will change the style all together.
Would love to use Blackwood but don`t know of any suppliers here in S.A.
I basicaly have only started getting into woodwork and sold my motor bike to build a 6.2m bye 9.2m shed. Woodwork is a little bit safer. Thought running a motor bike was expensive and wood work would be a cheap hobby as just finished aquiring a Triton setup eg workcenter and router stand and power tools to suit etc.
The stain I used was Ameron coatings 891Blackwood spraystain, ended up staining it bye hand as my spray gun wasn`t up to the task.
Thanks for the response regards Goldy.
