    Default Camper Kitchen WIP

    G'Day

I've been working on a slide out kitchen for my Camper Trailer. I've mainly sourced inspiration from Drifta Camping and Trailer Kitchens in Gloucester NSW.

    http://www.drifta.com.au/default.htm

I've adapted the design to fit in a standard size Weber Q BBQ and a two burner cook top. There is also a swing out bench, a slide out sink, cutlery draw and a small cabinet. It will sit next to a similarly constructed slide out box in the back of the camper trailer.

This has been my biggest and most complex project to date and also probably the most satifying! It's constructed from glued and screwed 10mm gaboon marine ply with F27 Blackbutt (I think it's Blackbutt?!?) for the slide rails underneath. The legs and leg braces are cut down galvanised steel tent poles. I'm finishing it with Bondall marine grade polyurathane and the bench tops will be covered with a laminate.

    I hope you like it!

    regards

    Manix

Hi Manix - I love seeing purpose built items - and I'm sure that every time you use it, you'll appreciate the time you put into planning how/where/what and why everything should go where it does!

    Cheers,

Nice work. How heavy will the unit be once full with kitcheny things? We have a Challenge camper trailer and the tailgate kitchen unit feels heavy.

    Hello Manix,

    It looks fantastic!

I am about to embark on exactly the same project with the same drifta inspiration. I'm guessing that 3 years later there are now a few shoulds and shouldn'ts that you have discovered. Do you have any pointers?

My wife is asking for lots of drawers and wants the sink permanently exposed and not hidden away in a slide.
