I like the twisted handle.
The time we enjoy wasting is not wasted time.

I like the twisted handle also mic-d. Was that a planned design feature or something forced upon you by the unruly Red Ash. I also haven't come across this as a timber but remember it well from my childhood as the soap leaf/bush. When I searched it after seeing your initial post I found some interesting comments on TTIT's blog, hence my comment above. He was not particularly impressed with the pieces he found and used. See HERE. Do you have another take on it? Would be interested to hear how you went with it and what was the source of your pieces. Curious is all.

Hi Ian, the twist was intentional. I haven't found any problems with red ash at all, apart from things like to eat it. I think the fiddle back is unusual. Reports in old books say it is an excellent cabinet timber but because it doesn't get very big is not of much commercial interest. This came from a small tree which died in our pony club grounds.
Cheers
Michael

Beautiful treatment of some beautiful woods.
I think that Canada was standing behind the door when they were handed out.

Thanks Michael, I did think the twist was intentional and commented because I thought it was an excellent design twist (No pun intended).
I guess the combination of the twist and fiddleback in that piece just impressed me a lot.
Thanks for sharing mate.
