Finish trimming the mortices, doing a challenging glueup, and shaping the handles.

Glueup resulted in a bit of stress, which put the brackets out of true. A few strokes on the jointer soon made them dead flat.
The shaping put a slight curve on the inside of the handles, which were glued and screwed in place. Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Well done Drew,
I hope one day to have the patience to craft something as beautiful without murdering too many electrons.

Zenwood, I have followed this thread with interest for several reasons. I am about to make a CD cabinet out of blackwood, I am not a darksider and have never worked with blackwood. So I have learned an eneormous amount from, I have admired your thoughtfulness in design matters, your woodworking skills and most of all your patience.
Thank your for all that, I have saved every one of yoy 200+ photos to my computer and look at them regularly, as well as a print out to pdf of the thread.
It would make a good book with a bit of a polish
Thanks again, have a greenie.

G'day Zenwood,
Keep it coming, this is great stuff.
Layer upon layer, doing that right now myself. Got another 8 days of 1 coat of Danish per day on a cabinet I'm building, then I can finally put it all together.
Wipe on,
wipe off.
wipe on,
wipe off.
(Sounds like a movie I once saw.)
