    Son you are wrong.

    There is a 6cm dowel in there. The dowel provides the long grain for the screw to screw into. The plug covers the dowel.

    nice chairs! do you think you will have any trouble with stregnth??? or will the back slats triangulate them enough to make them sturdy???
