    Cheers mate,

I spent a bit of time down at the timber yard comparing timber colours. I was lucky to find such a golden piece of spotted gum. All the rest were dark greenish or walnut coloured.

The spotted gum was great, it was my first time working with heavily figured timber. The blowout on the jointer was a struggle, but it came good in the end.

Very nice indeed. What exactly was the trouble you had with your jointer? You refer to a blowout.

    Hi Paul,
the spotted gum was heavily figured with tight undulating grain direction. This caused a lot of blowout as I milled it over the jointer. I had to pass it through the thickness sander so many times I removed 12mm only on one face (but it was better than doing it by hand).
    cheers,
    Chris

Could do better with the dovetails, but other than that it is a great looking table. I love the top.

    Walrusarts,

Are the leg panels only glued up on butt joins or did you use splines or mechanical fixtures.
