    Default colonial style bench

Latest effort. Jarrah. Traditional M&T joinery (didn't have the bodginator at the time). Four coats Minwax Wipe on Poly (amazing the difference between the 4th coat and the other 3). Pictures kind of dark, but it hides the stuffups.

Slow project for me because I was working from pictures of 4 different benches, designing as I went. The pics all had turned front legs, but I don't have a lathe or the knowhow so just used a big roundover bit.

    Cheers,

    Tex

Looks nice, seems to suit the mood of the room too, by the look. Congratulations.

    Nice work Texy,
i like how you've left a square edge on the front legs at the seat level stretcher.

    Great result Tex

OK, so thats the bench out of the way, what's next.

You're tooled up, have a tonne or more of Oz hardwood, there are no limits.

Quite right, Bodgy. Current list includes:

bathroom cabinet (with sink, which means $$ for sink and plumber)
cabinet for the aquarium (which means $$ for new aquarium)
small blanket chest for mobile daughter (possibly no $$ required)

Think I'll start on the blanket chest next

Tas. I think it's comfortable. My taller friends might not. Height was based on a comfortable chair we had around the house, and the back is angled 22 degrees or so.

Harry. Couldn't figure out how to tenon a square rail into a round post, so figured it would be easier square. Plus the photos I was working from were square at the join and looked nice.

Thanks for the comments and greenies.

I'm always impressed with any form of seating. In my experience, there is nothing harder to make. This bench looks wonderful, Tex. I love the design, your selection of timber, and the excellent execution. Greenie for you, Mate!
