    Default Computer Desk

I made this out of a big slab of Mackay cedar - unfortunately there wasn't quite enough and I had to use a few bits of meranti to finish off. Still I'm pretty happy with the result (as is the Chief Designer!)

The grain on the desktop is fantastically complex, but the Triton ROS fixed that.

The metal supports for the shelves were made out of an old aluminum bull bar.

The internals of the drawer carcase are 16mm whiteboard, with mini-orb over the top.

The shelves are removeable for moving the desk (as is the drawer unit and legs which are held by screws). The whole thing is far too heavy to be moved in one piece.

Looks really good and if the designer is happy, even better! It reminds me of a bar though, with the thick slab and mini orb, I would be battling a beer while typing I think!

Mackay Cedar is a lovely timber, it's what my desk is made of too, but not very nice to work with (cough splutter).

Great job there Dion! It'd make sitting at the computer a real pleasure.

    Great looking desk

I love it. But there is a problem. Somthing is not right. I think it is all the white plastic on the desk top. With a dask like that from the stone age, you should have an box of colored stone and abacus or a length of knotted rope as your computer to keep the theme.

Very 'rustic'. I bet Ruffly will love this one when she logs on.

    Cheers,
Well, it sort of compensates for the time spent "e-woodworking" on the Forums instead of in the shed

Nice work Dion. I like the use of the mini orb.
