Fire,
Don't sell your self short. Judging from the two projects you have posted I would say you have the knowledge to tackle most projects. I think you'll find that making a bookcase/coffee table is a lot simpler than you think. give it a shot.
BTW great mirror and welcome to the BB,

thanks for the kind words..
ill probably give a table a shot, some sort of bedside table... after exams that is..
i'll have all summer untill uni starts in march (im in year 12)
i guess with a mitre saw, and a fine blade, i can do much better cuts, then previously which was all by hand. That would make corners so much easier!
Thanks

u got me stunned there :P
im a maths / science person, and i want to get into Aerospace Engineering. thats if i get the marks (its like 96+)...
if no, then ill do straight engineering (which branches to what you want) (which needs like 90.4)
and if i really stuff up, then engineering at a different uni..
and there u go.. my life dreams in short.
i dont do any art or "woodwork" type of subject, but i love it. i only like it as a hobby..
by the way.. my mitre saw is here.. and WOW!!!! VERY COOL!

quick question...
with my mitre saw.. it cuts very smooth!.. slides awsome too!
just curious about cutting metal.. the manual doesnt say anything apart from aluminium with a 100t blade?
can i just go to bunnings.. and buy one of those discs, which look like sandpaper??. and i think they say stone on it??.. to cut metal?...,.
i dont want to cut solid blocks or steal or anything.. just like hollow squares, or piping.. or copper pipe... .. something to cut other then the hacksaw!..
any ideas.. please comment!

awsome!..
is there any difference between a metal saw, and a wood saw????..
not the blades.. the motor, etc?
would my mitre saw be damaged somehow from cutting metal??
sorry for my "noob" questions... i really have no idea about metal stuff.

no difference in the electronics except maybe speed. if its concrete or masonary then you need something that is sealed so the internals dont get clogged up. Personally I wouldnt use it to cut steel..

The Triton blade looks like an ordinary saw blade but is designed to cut mild steel. The Triton unit looks very impressive but at a cost of about $ 450 I will get just the blade and try it on mine old one rather than using a cut of wheel which wears down. Subject ofcourse to getting the right bush.
I believe any mitre saw that takes a 7 1/4 - 8 " blade would be suitable, but don't ruin your good one trying it out. If and when I get mine working I'll let you know and post some details.
