Default My Create from a Crate entry

I thought it was about time I put up some photos and a little WIP of my entry.
So here we are starting with the final piece in the gallery in Dandenong.
    IMG_0423.jpg
Mock up drawing of desk plan. First time i've ever done a full size drawing, found it extremely helpful.

    1 dismantled pallet.
    thumb_IMG_0100_1024.jpg

Box dovetailed and glued together with floating bottom.
    thumb_IMG_0260_1024.jpg

Legs glued together with 2 dowels.
    thumb_IMG_0259_1024.jpg

Quick jig to cut and route area from leg to nest with box.
    thumb_IMG_0269_1024.jpg

    Made lid with breadboard ends.
    thumb_IMG_0271_1024.jpg

    Attached legs.

    And now the chair.
Once again started with full size drawing.
    thumb_IMG_0307_1024.jpg

Glued up pieces for legs and seat
    thumb_IMG_0312_1024.jpg
    And cut joints.
    thumb_IMG_0313_1024.jpgthumb_IMG_0314_1024.jpg

    All parts rough shaped.
    thumb_IMG_0316_1024.jpg
    Power carving seat.
    thumb_IMG_0319_1024.jpg

And it seems I stopped taking photos at this point. Probably because this is where all the mistakes started happening(putting round overs where they shouldn't be)

Anyway I got it finished and my daughter loves it.

It's a very nice piece, Shane. It was good to meet you down there, too.

Well, congratulations on your placing in this competition. Just got the email tonight from the organizers and saw your chair and desk there thinking they looked familiar. Sure enough they were with your name attached.
    Well done.

Thanks Shane, it was a pleasant surprise. Congratulations on your well-deserved placing. This was a great exhibition, and I expect that it will be back bigger and better in two years time, so hope to see you again then.
