Default A cubby for your birthday

Over my Christmas break I have been building a cubby house for my daughters 2nd birthday (next week). I have all but completed it apart from a bit of paving and some small garden beds etc.... below are some construction pics and the finished product.

It cost me just over $1k. Timber/Hardware/Cladding aint cheap is it.
I did manage to save a few bucks by doing the following:
    - getting all the framing pine second hand out of the paper for $100
    - using left over colorbond wall sheeting/trim etc from my shed for the roof. Roof cost me a total of $6 for the roofing screws so that was a win at least.
    - Floating floor I also picked up free out of the local rag.
    - the timber shutters were cut down from second hand shutters I found at the local recycle yard (revolve) - $8

Turned out alright I think esp since its my first cubby
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.

Great work at an excellent price. I used to live in Canberra, so where is the central heating.

Wow! Great looking CH and it looks well made.

Probably too well made. The Trouble & Strife might be inclined to see it fit for temporary overnight accommodation post pub crawl for the builder?
Thank God for senility... now I don't feel so silly any more.

My wife is expecting again and I tell you what If I end up with a tribe of girls by the time they all hit teenage years I may be voluntarily moving in.

Thanks Wongo, I drew inspiration from the cubby house you built your daughter (along with many others cubbies built by members on this forum)

    Cheers

    Forgot to add dimensions:

Main House area: 2400 x 1800 x 1700 wall height. It ended up being approx 2200 x 1600 internal once I lined it with ply.
    Front Deck area 1800 x 1800

Noticed there is steering wheel on wall. What sort of mileage does she get? Do you have to pay tolls on the freeways?

Really great work. I recognize that table and chairs, that's the ones we smear banana and yoghurt all over every morning!

Maybe you could put a little weatherproof locker behind the cubby with your bunk roll in it.

I recognize the table and chairs and the toy box too I had to glue ours at the dowel joins I guess Ikea doesn't think about how hard kids play with stuff but they certainly are handy.
And the cubby looks great nice work.

Thanks for the kind words all I spent the weekend paving around the cubby and building a raised planter box out the back for growing some vegies

Yep gotta love ikea, ha ha. As for the 'toy box' few pieces of ply for shelves and a couple of hinges and it make a neat little 2yr old size cupboard

    Cheers
