    Default Custom Framing

I have started doing frames for people, custom sizes, timbers, glass etc. All the frames except the hexagonal one are mortise and tenon. The hexagonal one is glued with a biscuit for strength.

The timbers are silky oak, pine, stained pine, camphor laurel/young sapwood, and jacaranda.

The picture that is on the easel is mine, it's a print from Jenny Mace from Barcaldine which I bought and framed with a view of selling it. The frame is a frame within a frame, just an experiment to gain some depth and size without buying bigger material. This framed print was exibited at an exhibition of her work here at the hall of fame as an example of a local framer.

    All comments and criticisms welcome.

    Hi,
Very nice. What finish have you used on them?
    Regards

I thought I had all the information. Finish is one coat of clear shellac, scrubbed vigorously with 0000 steel wool with traditional wax until it starts to disappear and then polished before it goes hard. Leaves the finish silky smooth without the plastic look that paint gives. It's that silky feel that all my customers want.
