Thanks everyone for the nice comments.
Major, I only dream of turning out pieces like yours!
Line Lefty, no, the dropdown flap doesn't slide under. I thought of that when I was designing, but it would have needed a few more cm. which I didn't have if I wanted to keep the top as low as possible.
Gazaly, I built a similar unit 30 years ago into a room divider without the fancy slimline runners available now. Instead of these 12mm thick Hafeles, the slides and runner assemblies were about 25mm each side and very prone to coming apart.
Harry, I don't have lots of thumping bass and the hardwood seems to damp any vibration. The turntable is also mounted on springs, and I don't have any grandchildren old enough to own any vinyl! There may be some audio feedback, but I've yet to find it with my theatre organ and orchestral records.
Yes, I'm a conservative old fart!
    Cheers,
    Graeme

Yep, I agree, its a sleek and wonderful thing Good solution with the turntable, mine's still collecting dust at my feet under this very monitor.

    Cheeers!

Very nice, It is great to see a solid timber TV unit, rather than than the ikea style ones. Give me real timber any day.

I like others have said also like the idea of the pull out drawer and hide it all away aspect.

    Well done.

    Cheers
