Nice looking boards Cruzi, well done mate.

What errors did you make?

The last one is solid timber, parquetry almost, seems I can do shapes with solid timber but veneer still frustrates me.

First error was in planning of cuts, needed to be wider or narrower, ended up wasting more than I would have liked.

Next error was alignment, one piece is out by a few mm, it slipped during glue up.

Final error was with silky oak around the pattern, one corner slipped during glue up so its ever so slighty recessed for about 3mm, hard to find but I know it's there.

Doing another board in this style of build, using NG rosewood, rosewood, huon and probably blackwood, design is almost exactly like the Incra projects that inspired them, but done on Ryobi tools without Incra, with a bit different method.

Are you confident that wood movement wont eventually cause the boards to crack?

Think I have allowed for movement within the boards, each section is held by dominos, including within the design.
The surround pieces have the wider domino slots within them to allow expansion and contraction. Titebond III is glue of choice as well, it better hold for the extra $$$ it costs.

So my thinking goes, although these are cutting boards , it is unlikely that they will be used as such (the parquetry ones), normal wood movement should present no problems long term.
However, if someone did decide to use it as a daily cutting board, with conseqent wetting and drying cycles, they should last 10 years or so.

Interested to hear if there is any flaws in thinking though.
