Desk/Document box
Hi all,
This is a reasonably large document/desk box. It will hold unfolded A4 in the bottom and has a tray for pencils, pens, erasers USB drives and so forth.
The carcass is reclaimed Tasmanian Blackwood with inlaid Red Gum at the top and bottom. The tray is figured Red Gum. The lid is made from a border of QLD Maple, with a panel of bookmatched figured Red Gum. There were worm holes in the centre of the piece I selected, so I split the piece and made the worm holes a feature. They are so shallow, that the kerf alone removed a lot of the pattern, but you can still get the gist.
The finish is Hard burnished Wattyl Teak (Scandinavian) Oil. These photos were taken without a flash.
Regards,
Rob

Very nice Rob. The contrasts look good.
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.
