    Default Dufftale a drawer

I am currently building a small table for the in-laws. I thought this is the chance to give the dovetail a go.

I have been studying this subject for quite a while now. Also I had a little practise with a couple of drunken members last year. Frank Klausz’s DVD is pretty helpful too. He reckons it takes 20 minutes to make a drawer. I think 3 hours is about right for me.

The table is made of maple, red ironbark, blue gum and some unknown wood. I am putting 2 coats of MinWax wipe-on poly and Ubeaut wax this week.

    Cheers

Sorry I forgot to mention the Veritas dovetails saw guide. It is fantastic.

Nice one, Wongo. I am now (even more) ashamed of my butt-joined drawers and you have inspired me to lift my game.

Nice wee table, and nice half-blind dovetails. I'm assuming you glued a front piece on afterwards, since the close up of the pieces show through dovetails, yes?

How did you fix the top on? Doesn't seem to be much room for buttons.

Zenwood, you are right again. It is not a half-blind DT. It is my next challenge. See attached for your second question.

    Thanks guy.

    Thumbs up

    Hi Wongo,

Great Job!! Frank's DVD is mind boggling - 20 minutes for a drawer?? I think I too would take a minimum of 3 hours if not much, much longer.

    cheers

Very nice, Scott! Have a greenie! (We-e-ll, since it seems I can't currently give you a greenie , have a virtual greenie instead).
