Easter Project - side table
Lovely Melbourne weather, some shed time and some recycled Jarrah from my neighbour's old deck.
It's only got one coat of Wipe-on poly so it's not finished yet, but it's all I'm doing until the weekend. It's OK, not the best i've done and shows that my jointer blades need replacing but it kept me busy for a couple of days.

These look good!
Any info on the glue used to join the recycled jarrah?
Inquisitive bugger me!

I tried sharpening them by hand... that's why they're blunt.
Just normal yellow glue. Triton actually.
The rails are fixed with loose tenons which I made from some scrap and did the morticing on the router table. Dead easy.
The top is 5 bits joined with biscuits. Same glue. The tenons were pine so I hope they are OK - I can't see why they wouldn't be.
I like the grain in Jarrah too.

Looks good Gumby, but is it a bit redder in real life? Looks a bit to brown for jarrah?

Functional, well-made, and looks great: hard to ask for more. The grain matching in the top is well done -- hard to spot that it's made from 5 pieces.
Certainly looks like jarrah to me, which can be quite brown. Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Well done Gumby.
It is always satisfying to look back on a long weekend and see something accomplished.
Nice side table too.
If your jointer blades are a bit dull, use a hand plane. It will either convert you to the darkside or give you the energy to sharpen, get sharpened or replace the jointer blades.- Wood Borer

Nice one Gumby, at least someone accomplished something over the weekend.
I love the timber, beautiful quartersawn old-growth classic Jarrah....good score.I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

You give me way too much credit.
I never gave it a thought. Just cut and glued at random
and he's got stacks of it sitting under his carport. I can take whatever I need
(address withheld - there are vultures in here )
Now Rob, you know me better than that
