    Default EEpoxy stone inlay bowl.

Here's a Black Wattle shallow bowl with a "West's" expoxy Malachite inlay. It looks as thought the crushed powder has become oxidised and seems to have turned a dark green, almost black. The larger pieces of malachite seem to be showing through ok. The bowl is approx 260mm X 75mm finnished with several coats of Danish Oil.

    Hi Peter

You may find two things with malachite and epoxy.
    1. they produce heat as they cure and carbonates are notoriously heat labile (kills them big time) producing Copper oxide which is black.
    2. They cure using a reactive mechanism by oxidation, this may lead to the partial decomposition of the carbonate to Copper oxide which is black.

Nice work Peter. I like the effect - well done.
If I do not clearly express what I mean, it is either for the reason that having no conversational powers, I cannot express what I mean, or that having no meaning, I do not mean what I fail to express. Which, to the best of my belief, is not the case.

Well then Peter, what a beautiful copper oxide/malachite inlay in that lovely bowl of yours.

Very nice job again Peter. Your experiments with inlays are certainly paying off.
