    Default Filing cabinet

After SWMBO suggested we make a filing cabinet to match what was my Grandfathers roll top desk this eventually made it's way out of the shed. The timber is a mix of old and new and is mainly ash, the top and frame are recycled and the drawer fronts new. The handles had me stumped for a while but after a couple of attempts managed a jig that did a good job on the router with a straight bit. The finish is all Ubeaut, shellac, EEE, and traditional wax.

I've mastered the flawed heirlooms as well and wonder if I'll ever finish something minus the obligatory mistake. Interestingly enough the desk when you run a tape over it is typical of old furniture. Dimensions differ yet despite that you don't notice the errors, the old craftsman new how to make things look right. The cabinet has the addition of drawer slides underneath to give the illusion that the filing cabinet drawers are the same as the old style desk drawers.
