I Finished Something!!!
Well almost finished...I have to get a "proper" string yet.
I just couldn't stand all you blokes in your sheds cooking up all manner of wonderment while I've been working over the break, and then to make it worse, I have to go sailing in New Zealand for a couple of weeks instead of playing with wood 'n stuff. Ah well someone's got to do it I suppose.
Anyway rather than let 2004 go without finishing ANYTHING, I found a bit of what I think is camphor laurel (but almost no smell??) last night, that only needed me to take off all the bits that didn't look like a yo-yo, and here's the result!!!
If the timber was a bit more figured it'd be a contender for the AWWF Yo-Yo of the year 2004 I reckon!!
(Pics taken this evening at the Home of the Biting Midge....no fish this arv; ohhh it's sad to be me )
Cheers,

Congratulations.
What a productive year it has been for you having finished something. Must be a record for you Midge. I hope you will beat this record next year and finish two items.
BTW what finish did you use?
Peter.

Midge,
Are you sure you finished them? They look very much like the yo-yo sets that Lee Valley sell

Rocker!!!! How dare you!!!!
But thanks for the link! I now know that Lee Valley sell ball bearing axles for Yo-Yo's .... if I get a bit serious and buy a couple of those, I could end up being the Forum's Yo-Yo-Gu-Ru..
In fact Yo-Yo making has the potential to become so big that we might even need a Yo-Yo forum!!
Cheers,

My Nanna used to make yo-yos. They tasted good.

Good one BM, have a good break in NZ although looking at your backyard it appears that every day is in paradise.

Bad Midge
Spend 60 hours in the shed sharpening
Spend 100 hours in the shed rearanging tool storage
Spend 150 hours re fettling all your tools and machines
then don't do it again
