    I coat of shellac
    3 coats of sanding sealer
3 coats of auto clear topcoat
(coz furniture lacquer was $90 per 4 litres locally)
Next time I get to Melbourne I'll pickup 20L of furniture lacquer which is easier to work than auto stuff

That's just amazing Bob . Real work of art. The difference that the finish makes to the timber is incredible . Luv it

great table Bob but is that the order you put the finish on? Shellac, then sealer ?

I think it looks fab BTW.
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Thats the order I applied the finish.
Shellac for the golden glow. (I got used to using shellac years ago as a sealer over stains that are incompatible with lacqer.)
    then
Lacquer based sanding sealer coz its lots easier to sand than shellac.

Thought it might've been finished with MFKL.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.
