    Default Foot stool

Please bear with me as I do not normally make things like this. This stool will have a small storage box under the padded top

First thing was to turn the legs and hopefully get a matching set.

Did not take any photos of the cutting and making up of the side panels but as can be seen from the following two photos I had two options well the second was the choice so the panel was constructed

Today I managed to complete the panels and cut to length and do a dry run tomorrow I will cut the bottom panel before glueing this assembly before moving onto the top.

Thank you both will be doing some more this afternoon

All glued up with the bottom fitted.

Next job before any finish is the start of the top as I will not be doing the padded seat/top.

It still needs a good final sanding before the finish. I am no means a fine furniture maker more of a woodturner and model/toy maker

You say you are not a fine furniture maker but you are doing a pretty good impersonation of one. It's looking really good as everything you put your hand to is done very methodically.
How have you attached the legs to the skirts?

Thank you Treecycle. I cheated and used biscuits to join them. I now nee to make a top frame to which a board will be attached with the cushion. All will become clear as I go

Done a little more today but spent time first setting my chop saw up as the settings seemed to be a little out just enough to throw the cut out.
Once the saw was cutting square I could then cut the 45deg corners.
The Oak rim is the first part of the top there will be a board on top of that which the seat will be fixed.
I have clamped the pieces in place to aid in getting everything lined up as it need to over lap by 1/8" all round. it may not be the correct way to do it but then I am not a fine furniture maker and it works for me.

First picture with just two pieces in place and the last with all of them in place ready to glue together.

Eventually got out and brought the hinges for the stool and got them temporarily fitted as I will take them off once the finish has been decided. There will be another board to fit over the opening which the cushion will be fitted to and attached with 4 screws, that is down to my sister as she is doing that part.

These photos show the colour (well as close as I can get them)of the wood before the finish.

    Woodwork part finished at last.

Been working on and off on this stool(more off than on) now complete as far as I am able to go the light wooden top is there to add a seat onto it and will hold it to the wooden frame by 4 screws. Made from Oak with a MDF base and pine seat pad. When the seat is finished I will try and get a photo
