    Default Forum member meeting

    Hi there,
Just had a visit from a forum member who recently moved into the area. Clinton1 dropped over this morning for a coffee and a tour of my shed...3 hours later we emerged ! Swapped stories, timber, books, and basically had a great time. It sounds like we could be spending a bit of time together making planes, he's almost convinced me that metal ones are an improvement on wooden bodies!!
Here's a shot of Clinton folding his rather long frame over one of my shaving horses and using a handmade drawknife. I think he preferred the large commercial one, it suited his hands! He apologises for not wearing his cap.

    Cheers,
    Andy Mac

That would be too much, even for me.

    Yep Andy, verra interesting.
It was great to see the box of tools Andy made, and to get to try them out.
Planes, spokeshaves, scorps (spelling?), drills and drill bits... basically a whole tool chest worth. Fantastic.
I reckon its worth a trip up to Cabarlah just to take a look at that, never mind the fact Andy is an interesting bloke.

I also caught up with Reeves on Saturday, and thanks for the She-oak mate. A few hours spent yarning with Reeves and his loverly SWMBO. Talking on the verandah, looking at the King parrots, listening to good music in the background and later went for a wander around the local Nat. park. I reckon Reeves lives in the spot the missus and I dream about.
The rays on the she-oak came out and formed a semicircle on one side, and Andy cut a pair of veneer slices for me on the bandsaw.
Now to figure out how best to use them. Some tool handles in in as well, so that'll be interesting. Didn't know it was that hard, saw Andy struggling with the plane while getting the bandsaw marks out.

All in all, one of the most interesting weekends for a while.

    Thanks all.
    Cheers,
    Clinton

I'm envious Clinton. Much to learn from a guy like that for shore.

One day, I'd like to meet Andy and yourself.

My kids have to age a little I think. All I seem to have time for is them at the moment. But one day for shore.

Just have to work out where Cabarlah is ?

Why does Clinton apologise for not wearing his hat ?

Clinton nearly *always* wears his hat

Nice one Clinton! Reeves' verandah and slice of Heaven is a one of the the best places around, I reckon. Oh and his Sheoak is pretty amazing.
