Welcome to the forum. Nice looking spoon. How was it made.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

You'd rather 'twas a pen, Gumby?
I like the concept behind it, spoony, have you given any thought to inlaying pieces of, say, nacre or polished brass into the handles? Oh... yeah... welcome to the madhouse.

Nice work SpoonM! I like making spoons as well although mine are not as fancy as yours. Here's a couple I made last year.
Currently I have 2 mixing spoons "in progress" made from Orange tree wood. The sawdust from the orange wood smells sensational.

OK, thanks all for the welcome, to answer everyone's questions in one go:
How the Spoon was Made
i. I made the spoon by tracing around an old cheap spoon. I then added the extra curves to the end of the spoon free hand.
ii.I then used by band saw to cut out the shape.
iii. I then clamped the spoon the bench and used a gouge & mallet to carve out the bowl of the spoon.
iv. Next I started on shaping the spoon and end of spoon to make it curved using a rasp - i left the handle at this point refer step vii. I clean up the deep cuts left from the rasp using 40 grit sandpaper.
v. I then concerntrated on the curves using a 6mm chisel to curve the inner parts of the curves that i couldn't shape with the rasp.
vi. I used a power drill to cut the holes in the top of spoon then used a round rasp and chisel to clean up the edges.
vii. The spiral effect i did by drawing 2 diagonal lines from the top of the spoon and following the same angle on each side down the length of the handle.
viii. after the lines are drawn, i use a rasp to shape between the line. I clean up the wood using a chisel to enhance the spirals.
Wood & Finish
The wood is brush box and I finished the spoon with walnut oil and bees wax melted in a pot.
I will take a photo of the other side soon.
