Garden waste to desk lamp
This project started when I decided to finally tune my bandsaw correctly once and for all... Should have done it 12 month ago ..now it is a wonderful bit of kit .
Now it is all good, what to start with...The desklamp in the study has a floppy head,,, Don't fix it make a new oneMust be environmentally friendly these days(even if the pollys are not) Therefore it must be made from stuff I already have. So had some logs from some garden trimming and a neighbour tree that had died.
This is what I started with the long log will be the arms and the already cut log that was used during bandsaw testing will be come the base and lampshade.

Had made a log sled so here it is getting a workout

The LEDs I had left over from another job the switch and power supply is from a old battery drill.
Here the finished product,,
cable management made these C shapes out of christmas bush trimmings

bottom clamp is a guitar bridge that went wrong, switch is the jarrah knob and control leds is a old drill charging circuit.

The head can swivel up and down and front to back used a bit of 15mm ally

Here it is at home, put some hole to hold pen and pencils and some black felt in the cut out

So all was made from thing around home
Hope you enjoy the journey... I know I have

That is amazing!
Wow, that is great. I love the imagination, creative use of recycled materials, the design and the end product! Five stars from me!

Quite an exceptional piece. As you said inspired by tuning your bandsaw.

Wow, that is really inspiring. I have just bought a bandsaw for just this type of project. I have lots of fallen wood around the property, (some of which I am saving from the combustion heater) that I plan to use for projects like this.
Thanks for that.
