My Great, Great, Great Grandfathers hall Chair
I have posted HERE in the past about my Great, Great, great Grandfathers wood plane, today as I treat to my self for my birthday I arranged to go to the National Gallery of Victoria Warehouse and view a Backwood hall chair that was made by him. What struck me apart from seeing the chair was how helpful and friendly the staff were when I took his plane out to show then it blew their minds here are some pictures.
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I´m not so sure about the universe.

That must have been a very special moment for you.
There aren't by chance any plans left by your Great-great-great-Grandfather of the chair he made? To be able to make a copy from his plans, would for me be the perfect remembrance of his legacy.

Stunning Chair Phil, how hard was it to get into the National Gallery of Victoria Warehouse?Always dreamt about getting close up and personal with some peices of this calibre, wonder how receptive some of these museums would be in letting a group of woodies through...joez

I found a reference to the chair doing an internet search, so I sent an email to the enquiry email address and it all happened from there, I was contacted advising me that they did have the chair and where it was also that they needed some warning to get it out of storage (two-three weeks) they could not do enough to assist me. I was allowed to get up really close to the chair and of course photograph it. being the great, great, great grandson may have helped a bit also but I suspect with a specific request they would be all to happy to help wonderful people. They were really excited to see and handle his plane and very interested in the story of my great, great, great grandfather also

I am wondering if I would have the skills to reproduce the chair, think a CNC router would be handy for the back

A magnificently made chair made from gorgeous timber!!
I personally am not a fan of that style but the above statement expresses my admiration for your ancestors skills.
