    Default Gum Burl Bowl

This is a local gum burl. I discovered that shellac sanding sealer dissolves the sap located in the cracks. initially I got smudges of red around the cracks but i oiled the bowl and the oil disolved the sap adding a bit of extra colour to the wood.

The burl really turned ok and is very quick and easy to finnish. The only danger is the possibility of the wood to disintergrate/break along the cracks. Thin super glue and a watchfull eye solves the problem though.
