Keep up the good work, I have found out how hard that Aussie timber can be, FunkyChicken (Qls.) brought some over and I know if I cut it I would need a resharpen.

Skew wondered up the hill yesterday and we ended up spending a couple of hours dimensioning the timber up that we had previously roughed up.
So today, having this week finally finished the jigs for the legs I got around to starting to shape them on the r/table today. Between the dusty, t/saw, b/saw and r/table I spent a very dusty and noisy but relaxing day, but nowhere near as dusty as Skew and I were last night.
It took a while to sort things out as the timber has fractures running through and trying to work out if they run in part or all through took a bit of leaning and pondering - but I got there.
I wanted a meaty 2" bottom bearing bit and so I ended up getting a r/bit in from Whiteside care of PWS. I also got an Xtreme Xtension, but I couldn't get it balanced and it scared the living hell out of me in the process.
A table has 4 legs. I was able to get 3 really good legs out no dramas with one having some real nice figure which will the a front facing leg. I ended up starting to dimension all the legs I could get out of what was cut up as 60mm x 60mm blanks, so I've got 7 legs and I'll choose the best 1 out of 4 possibles.
So far I've only done one face of four and tomorrow I might be able to finish the legs on the r/table.

Forgive me, it's been ages since anything has happened.
The cold weather and rain down here got the better of me and I found it hard to get into things, but things are getting above 20º and I'm out of hibernation now.
Today I made all the measurements and referenced my marks and transferred these to the legs for the lose tenons. I love my domino. (shot 1) The legs took ages, more so because of 8 I profiled with jig on the r/table - 4 came up trumps with 1 spare and 1 to use as a dummy (the dummy will come into play later on) and the other 3 were totally shot with unseen fractures. I'm finding out, well for me anyway that Cooktown Ironwood likes to fracture once dimensioned and new cut surfaces are exposed to the air -
Back when Skew and I cut some slabs down we found some real nice figure in the boards (see shot 2) and I was like a kid in a lolly shop, but what always bothered me was there wasn't enough to also use in the front apron and side aprons.
And then I got some more timber, which last weekend Lignum at the Woodfest ran through the thicky at Machinery Warehouse for me. So I then dimensioned it up and sorted out the apron and drawer fronts (shot 3)
This arvo going back to my first bit of the legs being Dominoed, I thought it'd be a good idea to do a bit of a dry fit to see where I am and also get to start taking dimensions off to start the web frame which is next.
The jig for the legs was tricky, but the trickiest test will be the feet for the legs which will be shaped from solid aluminium. I've gone through my head with it so many times now I'm ready to start soon on cutting, shaping etc.
First though I need a few things, some I should be able to get the the Wood Show this coming Friday. I also need some hanger bolts from which I'll get down the road from Coventry Fastners... they've changed their name, still it's the same mob just a different name, anyway and some two part epoxy from Bunnies - just the 1 squirt two syringe job (I don't need much).
So there you go, progress will be more regular now

G'day Alex, yeah and it's blunted every cutting thingo that has touched it, soon I'll be needing to go down to my local saw sharpener.
To try and explain the taper - the legs are 50mm sq at top and falls to 34mm sq with the outside falling 10mm from the top outside edge over 840mm of length. Total of legs with feet will be 915mm, going from 50mm to 30mm.
Jow, cold and me don't get on, but heat and any humidity I can get down here I love.
