    Cool Side/hall table COMPLETE!!

    Finally its done...

What started out back in November as a stunning take off literal ripoff of rockers side/hall table that was shown here which was a stunning take off literal ripoff of someone elses side/hall table... ended up changing morphing an with much tossing of timber chucking of peices breaking of laminations from what was something resembling this...

1 and 2) show the laminated curved front legs and the arched top for the back of the top

    Should have looked great eh?

Well... it didnt!! The curved front legs looked like shyte and couldnt hold up a wet tissue let alone a couple of chunks of jarrah... so I tossed them to one side and set to again

Now cause weve had some issues with the humpyhoochy being taken by the previous owners and one of the future SIL having all the cameras for the past week Ive no pics of the construction of the new legs but instead will show a few pics of the finishing stages

The side hall table in its final incarnation

As can be seen the legs changed a fair bit with each incarnation... finally I settled on tapered legs and leaving the brass woodscrews on the surface for some form of contrast... I finished it with Gilly Stephensons Orange Oil ... almost a bottle went into the thing in the end!!

To be taken to eldest daughters place in Harvey as a 3 week late birthday gift... dont quite know how Im gonna manage it just now as theres a bit of an issue with her dipstick of a boyfriend

    But its done!!

Quite interesting actually given that I started this thiing I think in November? and couldnt seem to get into it so it sat there on the bench since then and it was only after a particularily nasty altercation with her boyfriend that I went out and it went to gether easy as without a hitch Im starting to wonder what Im gonna make when I deliver this and have the punch up? should be interesting eh? aaah nothin like a tad of frustrated anger to get the damned creative juices flowing richly!!

Ps... I have mentioned from time to time how much I dont like Jarrah... rather boring drab timber to my eye... however these old old boards being construction grade from back in the 30s or so have some bloody brilliant feature.. still I do think a small purfling of say maple would have been nice... ah well maybe next one eh? with 6 girls no doubt theres gonna be anothery sooner or later

    Dingo,

My table was a rip-off of Major's table. I cannot claim any credit for the design.
