    Default My handmade bench

    Hi all,
    I just completed my workbench.
I made it with hand tools. I hope you like it.

    Ciao,
    Giuliano

Wow, Guiliano, that is a beautiful bench! Can you tell us about the timbers you used?
BTW, are you a left hander...the bench stop sort of indicates you plane that way?

    Cheers,

Lots of attention to detail there Giuliano . I like the dentil moulding, nice decorative touch. Use of the end cupboards and the drawer unit is a very effective use of space Interesting use of panel construction to the drawer face with dovetails, I haven't seen that before. I guess that is due to the three section face of the drawer and you needed to trim the ends?

Nice profile on the feet and I like the sliding dovetail on the breadboard end to the top. Variety of timbers and stops, vices, dogs etc show a good deal of thought has gone into this bench.

    Great workmanship!

Yes, we do like it a lot. I really like to dovetails on the bench top. It is a good way to keep the top flat. Very well done.

I assume you will be leaving it in your dining room.

The contrasting timber colours give it a bright look.

I like the space under the bench top.
Very practical to get at bench dogs and to store bits and pieces.

Nice piece. Wonderful attention to detail. Its too nice to be banging timber on it.

How long did it take to you make it?

You should be very proud of what you have achieved. Beautiful work.
