Default Hardwood Bookcase and small Box

    Hi everyone,

Have been reading this forum for a while now, A great source of inspiration and ideas. Thought I'd share a bookcase and a small box I recently finished.

The bookcase is made of an unknown island hardwood. I bought a huge pack of it off an online auction here in NZ for a very good price. Finished with wipe on poly. Never thought of thinning it down by 25% and rubbing it on. Learnt that from the finishing threads. The 2 adjustable shelves havent been inserted yet when I took the photos cos I ran out of shelf studs.

The small box is made from unknown timbers and is my first attempt since reading the box making section and acquiring a medium sized packet of mixed timbers. Alot of it is thin packing type timbers that were only really suited for box making but there is some prime chunky hardwoods/softwoods.

    Default Nice Work

You have done an excellent job with a very good eye to detail

Like the design of the book case. Did one similar recently. Atleast the adjustable shelves won't fall/get pulled out with the way you have done it.

Look forward to seeing more of your work in the future!

Welcome to the forum. The book case looks great - well done. Shame we don't know what the timber is that the box is made from. Also nice work.
