Heirloom Rocking Cradle
This is one project that WOULD not have been finished in the time it was had it not been for the encouraging comments by members of this Forum and friends n family after I made the cot for our first grandson, and posted on ths forum. Thanks
This was made for our 2nd grandchild a beautiful little girl 7lb 10oz who I might add that she came early (while I was getting off an aeroplane in Brisbane to go to the Wood Show:mad:  at myself for not being there for my son, home next day ) This has been a project in the making for a long time and there were parts of it I just could not get my head around. But after all the good comments my mind just cleared and I was away.
All the turnings I had done by a woodturner. The rest by me.
I hope you like it.

Hi Peter,
Congratulations on your lovely new Granddaughter. You certainly move fast, NZ to Oz, Woodshow, Toowoomba and back to Bris and NZ again in two days! Not Bad!

Nice work Peter
I can see how it could be difficult to get your head around this. Lots of angles to play with.
What is the timber?Scally

Great job on this, Peter! I'm sure the parents were thrilled with it, and when your grand-daughter is older, she will appreciate the love that went into building it!
Cheers,

Thanks Steve.
By the way the name Heirloom was not the discription that I gave it but the discription given by Practical Woodworker where I found the plan about 4 years ago. It was not until well into the making of it that I realised that it was so low and I though   that we have a problem here as to a bassinett' it was bloody low. However on talking to my sister and told her of my thoughts I was told that all Heirloom cradles were low and with that I felt relieved. Have been told by my daughter-in law that it is just great as it is easier to check Lila while in bed and can make adjustments through the slats as aposed to the bassinett which was a lot heighter and cannot see through the sides.
Hi Wendy and thanks. Did you get well enough to get to the show?
I hope so as I thought that it was just great, any way will catch with you may be July as we will be comming over for our grand son Jack who is 5.5 months old to see his other Great Grand dad.
Thanks Scally as with all jobs you need
1, The right mindset
2. The right tools
The timber is Rimu all the colored pieces are of old demo heart and the slats are of what used to called OB rimu.
Thanks Jill but still it is a little project compared to the one that you and you're family are currently on. Great work if I was lucky enough to get an invite to the Barbi I would love to admire you're great house. Keep posting.
And Phil great to meet up put a face to the name.
Cheers Peter

Had guy from work modify the photo to make it more clear on the forum as I have no idea as to how to change them to make them fit.

Hi Peter,
If you come to WA to visit when we finish the house, you're welcome to drop in! Can you please thank Marilyn for her post on the thread of our children's artwork, too, please - I only found it this morning/last night, and responded to it! Sorry about missing that!
Cheers,
Jill
