    Default Huon Pine bowl

    g'day all,

Been a while. Now that uni is over for the year i can get stuck into some more shavings. I have heard many people praise Huon Pine, and having never used it before i decided to turn a simple bowl. I think i have a new best friend! It's such a nice timber to work with, and the aroma.....!!! mmmm
Anyway, the bowl measures 150mm diameter and 47mm deep. The rim of the bowl was burnt on the lathe by holding 2000 grit paper at high speed. Be sure to wear gloves and fold the paper many times cos it gets mighty hot. The whole thing was finished in EEE then Shellawax. What else?

    Well here it is.

Nicely turned. The burnt edge adds a nice visible contrast.

    Well done

Very very nice. Those knots make it look better than most bits of Huon.
