That is one good looking piece! Great depth, very tactile design. I like it

Very nice design and superb execution very well balanced shape and proportions.
I really like the grain on the legs however a minor thing bothers me, all the strechers are quarter sawn (or close to) except the long bottom one, it makes it a bit bottom heavy and takes the attenting out of the nicely figured flat sawn panel and legs. I can see the effort to match it the bottom right but I recon it would have been perfect if they both looked like the top ones.

Not being picky, just trying to be constructive....

    Thanks JackG

    I agree with you.

It was the best board I could find to suit but the flat sawn section looks out of place. That is why it is at the back of the box where it should not be seen too often.

Hand flattening the wide cedar board for the lid was bigger concern at the time.

    Default Excellent fast work!

I can appreciate the "last minute" requests for Christmas. I too suffered from the same pressure. As an ironic result, I also resorted to trying biscuits instead of my normal dovetail or dowel joinery.

    Great looking piece!
