Jarrah Silver Ash & Marri Table & Chairs
Here is a table I just finished and six chairs I did a while ago, some maybe familiar with the chairs design, I did post pics of the prototypes about a year ago.
This is my 1st table and it is my own design, thanks to Woodwork forum various books and David Marks for the tips and inspiration.
The Table is Jarrah and Marri, chairs are Jarrah and Silver Ash, finish is NC Laquer and on the table top EEE Ultrashine that I wipe off with turps to remove the wax.
I am very happy with the chairs and the joinery of the table but the table top could be better, I had many problems with wood movement and small cracks, for now I will leave it inside for a few weeks see what happens and I may have to resand and laquer the top again.
Let me know if want construction details, next project... An accoustic Guitar !
Cheers

Thanks for the kind comments, I agree the silver ash goes really well with the Jarrah, I used Marri for the table legs because I already had it. I never used Marri before and I didnt like it very much, SIlver Ash is much easier to work with and finishes better.
The covering on the chairs is just some fabric on foam, I had the upholstery done by a professional and I am very happy with what he did, my initial attempt was pretty poor...
The 2 stretchers was some sort of a natural necessity, I wanted the table to look from the "same set" as the chairs and the 2 sides remind the back slats of the chairs. At that point I considered joining the middle of the 2 sides and having one stretcher but it didnt look good so I decided for the 2 stretchers.

Looks very good mate.
I like to splay the back legs of my chairs to the rear so the feet are directly below (or even further behind) the tops of the legs.
It will make the chairs far more stable in use if someone leans back.

Classy stuff Jack. I like it very much. Put them in a fine furniture shop and we are talking about a $15,000+ prize tag.

Excellent work Jack, I really like the design of both the table and chairs and the way the different timbers compliment each other.
Regards
Al .
