    Default Jewellery Cabinet

Here is a jewellery cabinet I made for my niece. It's made from a flooring offcut of what I was told is American Oak. Drawer sides are some sort of ash - resawn from an offcut from a deck we built.

Finish is Scandanavian Oil and UBeaut Traditional Wax.

Bit rough putting it out on the nature strip for hard rubbish collection Silent, it looks too good for that.

Isn't that where you pick up some of your finest items for sale, Al?

    SilentC,

That is American white oak (as opposed to red oak); it is a nice timber to work - has an attractive smell.

You have made an excellent job of that cabinet. Did you attach the side mouldings with dovetail keys?

    Thanks Rocker and Ben.

Yes, I attached them with dovetail keys just for the exercise. I attached the mouldings during a week when we had a lot of rain. The next week, the mouldings were proud of the cabinet back by about half a millimetre which goes to show just how much movement there can be in such a small piece.

It was very nice timber to work with. I've got a bit left but not enough to make anything of any size.
