    Default Jewelry Box

This box is redgum and blackwood rescued from a heap of firewood.
I made it for swwmbo because she gave her old one to our oldest daughter who is 4.
I have to go and get some for felt for the inside and some brass chain for the lid.

Nice firewood. Nice mix of timbers. How's the bottom fitted?
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

I am not sure if this a right way or a wrong way to do things, l rebated around the bottom panel to a depth of 5 mil so it sits up inside the box by that amount and glued it in place.

Ideally the bottom and the top should float rather than be glued. This is to avoid problems with expansion and contraction.

Having said that, not all of mine have floating tops and bases.

Good job, nice to see wood rescued from a firey death.

Oooh. maybe i nearly saw you there then. I went yesterday and was highly embarrased to be there.

It's like Bunnings for Women that place. Not a man in sight.

They looked at me a bit strange too. perhaps it was the green skin and plasticine horse tied up out the front.

If you went to Bayswater, at least there is a bunnings over the road. You can park at bunnings and walk acroos.

A good example of what we burn Tim - nice recycling or should I say saving. Beautiful timber.

I hope the base panel doesn't give your mitred corners any grief.

I like the way you continued the lines of the timber around the box - very effective.

    Cheers
